Love Field Airport (DAL)

Love Field Airport, nestled within the City of Dallas and home to Southwest Airlines Headquarters, has grown exponentially since its original inception in 1971.  focusEGD worked with the airport throughout its growth, solving changing and evolving needs of the airport and its visitors. From the addition of convenient parking garages, roadside expansion for guest pick-up, taxi and shared vehicle, to wayfinding in the growing terminal, our signage was designed to match ever-changing transportation needs.

Love Field Airport – New Entry and Identity

Completed in 2022, the new Love Field Entrance project is a collaborative effort by the Dallas Office of Arts and Culture, Dallas Airport System, Freese and Nichols, and focusEGD. Inspired by the re-use of the original entrance sign used now at the corner of Denton Drive and Mockingbird, and the “Love Bird” sculpture by artist Ed Carpenter, our sign acknowledges the history of “LUV” while complimenting the new burst of visual energy right up front.

Love Field Airport – Garage A/B and Curbside Renovations

The days of taxis as the only mode of local transportation are over. With multiple choices, visitors need clear direction on where to hale their Uber or Lift, and drivers need clear information on where they can wait for their soon-to-be passengers.  That requires clear markings for both sets of users. Color coding and distinct messaging are paramount for this smooth transport modal both inside the Garage B addition and along the curb.

Love Field Airport Parking — Garage C

Having designed the signage for the first two garages in the 1980s, it was clear that they were no longer adequate for the numbers of passengers in and out of Love Field weekly. Time for a third garage – Garage C. At 5,000 spaces, it became an opportunity to share the “LUV” through branding (think heart) and Love’s iconic Red. After all, this may be the user’s first experience at Love Field. Level color coding and a plethora of level identity signs give smart phone picture takers plenty of reasons not to forget where they parked.
